Interested in beginning Bee Keeping

I would like to know a few things about getting started...what kind of things to i need to make sure of...
i heard to check out the local flora, but for what?

The very first thing to do is at least purchase or get a book from the library on the basics of beekeeping. Read it. It may be of considerable help if you contact a local beekeeping organization. If in the states contact your local cooperative extension office. Don't be concerned with floral sources.
