I am a new beekeeper and I obtained two nuclear hives about 3 months ago (mid winter in Australia). It is now early spring. One hive is strong and was from its start as a 4 frame nuc. It has now filled a 10 frame brood box and I have just put on a super.
The other weaker hive has not progressed beyond its original 4 frames. In fact the other frames in the hive remain empty, apart from the original foundation which has hade very little drawn to comb and when checked yesterday I think there are quite a few drone cells being made.
Should I re-queen this weaker hive? I don't know how old the queen is.
